t's Thursday, and you know what that means: Snapshot time! So, what's on the plate for this week's test client?

A new scary decoration block
The “secret” from previous snapshots is now spawnable
A new mob variant in the Nether
Minor changes to the leather dye (the colors will attempt to maintain intensity, and not dilute as much)
The “work in progress block” is now called “Beacon”
Carrot on a stick!
And, of course, numerous bug fixes

Withered Skeleton

The Carrots on a stick make pigs follow you
To spawn a Wither make an iron golem using soulsand instead of iron and 3 withered skeleton heads instead of pumpkins

Well if you read up on the snapshot you would know that the wither boss can be made with 3 wither skeletons and soulsand. But killing the With boss is essential to get the beacon block. I don't want to imagine how much this going to be abused in SMP.

Yeah, I mean, the Withered Skeletons don't seem dangerous, killing 3 and getting 4 soulsand to fight a massive boss is terrible, especially as the boss can do explosive damage to buildings, and all that for a beacon star that can be made into a block that gives you enchantments within about 10 blocks of it? Not really worth it :?

Well the wither skeletons are rare, and they don't ALWAYS drop the skulls, it is as rare as a rare drop :P

Maybe Jeb should try making the game more stable instead of adding all these useless mobs and items.

Whole wither thing doesn't seem worth it...

You get the beacon, and the only thing the beacon seems useful for is finding your house, you get those abilities but they only work around the beacon.

I agree... also the wither skeletons seem really unoriginal and they don't fit into the Nether. They should rather be a mob for a new dimension. However I don't think they should start a new dimension, before the existing ones are more fun, as mojang has already said themselves.
