Can you light them with yourself , like step in the portal when you are on fire ?

Doesn't work like that. The fire that your talking about stays to the player and the player only. (its more like an aesthetic effect that does damage)
the only way that its able to be lit (on legit w/out ops) is to get a dispenser and fire a fire charge.

Even using right click with a fire charge isn't working anymore

If someone was really determined to make a nether portal, they would be able to without an OP. There is a portal right next to spawn, so they shold be able to find blazes, make a dispencer, and light it. its just that they would have to stay near spawn, and if they do, its a risk of getting greifed. (either hacked or from not having a region due to the lack of ops.) If there is a way, we need it. if there isn't, then we just need to inform the newbies.

technically its NOT a legit/vanillla server if ANYTHING is Disabled.... lol

so i wud agree its a bit retarded to have those things disabled imo...

It's legit resources/construction. The plugins are there for grief protection. Mike has tried finding a way to fine tune the options to allow flint and steel to work, but there is apparantly no way to do it.

Vanillas server is/was the one with nothing at all, they are very different servers.

We could have it like Build1 - FireSpread disabled but Flint and Steel usable, It might still be cause for grief, but without firespread there's not much grief to be done with a flint and steel :P

We could try bman's suggestion. We have hawkeye/logblock so if anything happens we should be able to roll back.

Anyone disagree?

In 1.1 i'm sure fire spread was disabled but you can still use a flint and steel on a portal.
Why can't we just use the world guard fire spread turn off?
and it would be petty cool if TNT was on! but i know that will never happen..
