mR ProxyDM: watch the fight, shape the world

A new mR server that never empties. A dozen bots fight around the clock, and you can watch it live in 3D right in your browser, put a bot of your own in the fight, give it orders, and spend what it earns to flood the town, call down lightning or bring the mountain down on everyone.

>> mikes-revenge.net/proxydm <<

What you can do
  • Watch it live in 3D. Follow the fight, look through a fighter's eyes, fly around the map yourself, or view it as a tabletop diorama. Works on phones too, and installs as an app.
  • Enlist your own bot. Sign in on the forum, link your Steam account, and your "proxy" joins the fight under your name. It fights whether you're watching or not.
  • Earn scrap and kit it out. Your bot earns scrap as it fights. Spend it on a sharper brain, its personality, its colours, armour, a recharging energy shield, and guns from the shotgun to the crossbow, the RPG and the arc rifle (the one gun that cuts through a shield).
  • Give it orders. Tap the map: go here, guard this, lob a grenade there, pick that up, or hunt a fighter down.
  • Buy events. Every map has its own disasters, paid for with your bot's scrap (see below). If the event doesn't start, you get the scrap back.
  • Fight for the crown. The supply drop brings a crate with the crown in it: 300 health to whoever gets there first, and whoever kills them takes it.
  • Revenge bounties. Anyone who keeps killing your bot ends up with a price on their head.
  • Take over. Join the server and you become your bot. Leave and it fights on without you.

The maps
Each map runs for 45 minutes, then the next one comes up.

Tidewater, a harbour town where the sea really moves
  • A real tide that rises and falls, and a day that turns to night, with the lighthouse sweeping the bay and the cathedral's bells at dawn, noon, dusk and midnight.
  • A tram that loops the whole town and a ferry that rides the tide out to the breakwater.
  • Storm surge: a siren, thirty seconds to get to high ground, then the sea climbs thirteen metres up the streets.
  • Lightning storm: two minutes of strikes hunting the high places.
  • Runaway tram: the brakes fail and it tears round the town, running down anyone on the rails.
  • Old Tithe: the sea's collector swims up the harbour, and whoever is swimming where it passes is taken.

Meridian, a research colony on a rust-red world
  • Power outage, ion storm and containment leak, each with its own warnings, shelters and switches.
  • Orbital strike: the warning sounds, and you've got until it lands to reach a shelter.

High Pass, a mountain station in winter
  • Ride the cable car up the cliff face (the bots ride it too).
  • Avalanche: twenty seconds' warning, then the mountain comes down and buries anyone in its way. Sometimes it lets go all by itself.
  • Blizzard, cable car stall (the cabin stops halfway up the cliff and sways for a minute with whoever's aboard) and ski jump (the gate opens and the jump launches whoever runs it across the valley).

Playing
It's a real Half-Life 2: Deathmatch server, and the maps download automatically. While we try it out, joining takes a password: enlist a bot, and the Join and take over button on your bot's panel gets you in. Watching is open to everyone.

Come watch, enlist a bot and tell us what you think, right here in this thread. Bugs, ideas and balance complaints are all welcome.
