other way around actually, mike made a thread suggesting people invite for mR. Nobody opened Admin or OP applications but people made some anyway. Minkey and Tron didn't apply, they were selected.

According to mIKe and discussions in teamspeak, "admin applications have been open, people just never noticed".

By applying this does not necessarily make you an admin, it puts you in the spotlight for review for becoming a potential admin. No guarantees- admins are still ultimately picked by admins with mIKe making the final decision. Everyone else's input just simply shapes the spotlight.
