Hey guys, I was looking into building a computer for gaming and such, good specs etc, budget is around 2-3k, also has to have all the bells and whistles such as a wifi card etc, if someone could build me one on a build site id love to check it out!

Didn't include a monitor as that's really more a decision for your personal preference, but go with an Asus or BenQ probably, they're good. DDR4 is still expensive to get right now, but probably worth it in the long run, though DDR3 is still pretty good.

Haswell-E and DDR4 memory is pointless for gaming to be honest, you're spending more for little to no performance gains.

for monitors, it depends if you want a really good looking and color-accurate monitor or a monitor with a higher refresh rate for gaming. There's a mix of the two, the ASUS ROG Swift, but it's around 800 USD. Then you have to take into account what resolution you want, the two main ones being 1080p or 1440p. 4k is a waste of time for now and is far away from being usable in gaming

I have a 144hz monitor and will admit the color accuracy and screen quality is leaning towards the poor side. That's the nature of TN panels unfortunately

I just put a DDR4 setup because if you're dropping more than 2k on a computer, you probably don't wanna upgrade for at least like 5 years, and most of the current sockets will be fairly outdated by then. Hell, any current Haswell-E processors are still gonna be great in 5 years, and in a year or two DDR4 is gonna be the standard probably, though DDR3 currently will still be really nice with something like a 4770K. Really, it's best to only use builds other people make as a basic guideline and then change small things anyway.

Components change so rapidly that it'd just be a better option to get the right performing components now than going all out and blowing cash on the most premium stuff available. The only thing I would sort of future proof is a PSU

Haswell-E is really intended for workstation builds, not gaming. Also DDR4 memory is way too damn expensive right now, nothing justifies spending that much money considering this is a gaming build

I think it's best to have some money left over for the future instead of spending all of it on one PC build

Oink is right however if you havent upgraded in a long time its still a good investment for the new mobo and ddr4 max 16gb.

I'm holding off on replacing my Gigabyte ud9 XL-ATX mobo and i7 980X cpu, next year I will defintely be changing it

maybe should have waited for the 980.But it works. Will happily take any advise about how to improve it.
I hope to get another 780ti in the future.
