There are a few guides I used and none of one worked but all of them together did.

First grab the iso:

Install iso (x64)

Or find a windows 8.1 Pro (non wmc) iso (x86/x64)

Now put the iso on a usb (tool here) or dvd

Disconnect your PC from the internet, Reboot into the installer...

When it asks for a key use this key, it is for Professional (the only version this method activates for)

Let everything run its course, create an offline account etc...

When windows 8.1 boots into start, go to desktop-
1. Hold the Mouse on the left corner and Run Command Prompt (Admin)

2. Type this script and hit Enter
slmgr.vbs -ipk Product Key

Grab a Product Key from here: http://pastebin.com/riuZR7MY

3. Type this script and hit Enter you will get the Error [Ignore the error]
slmgr.vbs -ato

4. Type this scrip " slui 4 " and hit Enter or Go This Location >>> Control Panel\System and Security\System
and click View detail in Windows activation

5. Hit Activate by phone

6. Next will be choose Country Selection hit that then you come to confirmation ID

7. Turn internet on and launch skype, it should be installed in start
7a. I logged in through my normal windows account and merged my user account with the offline account I made, getting a confirmation email etc.
7b. I made my screen 50/50 Desktop/Skype (start)
7c. Dial the number in skype listed on the activation screen
7d. Jump through all the hoops, confirming you are human etc
7e. Answer home user
7f. Give installation ID, in a bunch of parts
7g. Enter confirmation ID given by robot to activate and finish

8. Check Activation remain grace period:
slmgr.vbs /dlv

9. Check Volume activation expire
slmgr /xpr

You should be done!

Windows 8.1 has a blurry text issue but an easy fix

Awesome! I linked it to one of my friends who was having a lot of trouble getting Windows 8.1 installed and he's trying it now. For those who are already on Windows 8 you'll get 8.1 free later in the year, or you can use the consumer preview installer Wink

.NET framework v3.5 is not installed in Windows 8 by default, and is a required component for some software. Issue the following command from an elevated/administrator command prompt:

Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:F:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess

(replace F:\ with the DVD drive/ USB where your Windows 8.1 installer is located. This will take a few minutes, be patient.
