Hey guys, Ethan here. Today I was tasked with building the boss-man a new super computer. Having little knowledge of what processors or graphic card thingimabobs are the newest and greatest, I need some help. I hope I've come to the right place of tech-savvy, computer-loving geeks and nerds alike.
My boss said that he wants a computer within the 2k-3k range of american doll hairs, it needs a gigabyte motherboard, 16+ RAM, and the newest intel cores. It needs to be able to run Auto-CAD, Adobe programs such as Photoshop and After Effects, and has to do all of this on four monitors. This compy will be used for the next 5-9 years so it really needs to last, and he said if he likes it enough I might get a raise.
If you guys could help a clansmen out with this it would be amazing and you would have my eternal love 5ever.

Gigabyte sucks but if you must, than a Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3. bleh

Gigabyte isn't as great as Asus or EVGA, but I think it'll get the job done. The newest Intel stuff uses DDR4, DDR3 would be fine but in 5-9 years, it won't be relevant. A ssixx said, you could use a workstation card and an Intel Xeon ($1500 will get you 12 cores! If you really need that CPU power, you could probably get a dual CPU mobo and have 24 cores) Also RAM is very upgradable, so you can add in a load more. Windows 8.1 would be fine, just put the pro version cause it's an office/workstation PC.

It comes down to what your boss is actually doing, casual photoshop and video editing, or hardcore 3d modeling and movie like creation. If its hardcore bore than workstation card if not then the 980 would be sublime. Intel i7 would be the bee's knees, but again if its hardcore then Xeon. Basically does he work for Steven Speilberg or an advertisement agency.

Video editing would be specifically advertising. Nothing too strenuous on the computer, but he will be using 3d modeling and have 2-3 of the editing softwares open at a time (like adobe bridge, after effects and audition)
Also the builds I've seen so far look amazing. Does the above information change anything in your builds guys?

Not really. Both of our builds will be monsters at just about everything compared to the average computer. Could go from 16/32gb of memory to 48 or 64 eventually, but that would be pretty far down the road.
