A couple of solutions
A. First and foremost, if you're able to log into the main map, and then this happens, I'd recommend trying to wait a bit and let the whole map load. Often times, Java trips up on itself when switching to a new map while it's currently loading one, so that can fix it.
B. Make sure WoM is always updated. A biggie for me, but you're probably good on that.
C. Check your Java to make sure it's completely updated. Another biggie, missing just one update can be the difference between a working client and a broken one.
D. Reinstall java as needed. If none of these work, try reinstalling it. Make sure you COMPLETELY uninstall it, then reinstall it based upon your bit system type (32 or 64).
