The desktop they made was more or less a quick-fix solution to the issue with metro. In my opinion, it doesn't even come close to stacking up to a Windows 7, or even a Windows XP desktop in terms of usability. Plus, all of the programs and applications will end up linking back to the Metro screen, so it's kinda hard to get away from it.
