Most piston elevators don't work in MP mincraft due to redstone responding slower than SP.
I'm sure if you put the time in though you may be able to slow it down and make it MP compatible.
Also if you can't make it from looking at the SP version you could always use McEdit to convert it to a schematic and ask mIKe to upload the schematic to the server.
