Age of Empires 2

I just bought Age of Empires 2 for my Windows 7 pc. It installed perfectly but when i come to load/run it however, the loading screen comes up, disappears and nothing else happens. I have tried running as administrator and in compatibility mode but it was no avail. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to get it working? I'd be eternally grateful for any responses.

Try updating your graphics card drivers (answer to everything) ;P I'm not of much help apart from that, but good luck getting it fixed

check for current patches, this game is older than god
