hmm sorry to be cynical but the last one was a big failure; I don't see this working either. Plus we are missing a lot of people from before.
RP server?

If the building side fails at the very least it would be cool to have a clan night on minecraft and download some big RP medieval map or something. It doesn't seem like a lot of players have committed to build on the server I agree, it's hard to ask for a server when there's such a big chance of it flopping.

First of all, it would be wise to actually advertise this venture on the various server lists around (but keep it whitelist) I know of plenty of proper RP servers that have lasted for years, because its is proper RP. Half the problem with the old server was it was just basically creative with a definite theme. If we where to spend a good amount of time creating and perfecting a map before we made it public, put effort into writing lore and history and went full RP with it, I could foresee it being a success. One example of this sort of thing is the Erica RP server that I used to play on. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1622...aces-jobs/ The RP was perhaps a little bit too in-depth and anal for me, but the combination of various cool plugins and detailed world made it fun to play on.

I'm leaning towards Oink's opinion in that we're missing a lot of the members who made the original map what it was, but something like a war/pvp game in the old map like Dman suggested (and like the pvp server we had for a while) would be cool. I've never really known RP to be that big inside MC, but we could possibly produce a mix of PvP and RP that we could have organised pvp clan nights on like Dman suggested

I'd come back to minecraft for this, yes plis

Well, I wouldn't say it was a failure, it just didn't take off because we sort of let it die over time. Some of my best memories in MC came from working on RP stuff, so at least it was enjoyable
however we're missing important people, including the 'leaders', like Doc and the rest

If we built up a big world amd started having games of PvP on it that would be pretty cool (maybe every weekend), also a lot of players like Pascal and Axe play TF2 now too, so I guess a tf2 server might bring in some players again (just speculating)

The idea of another Rp server is always entertaining for the simple fact of the massive builds to be done.
However, using the same map again and building over another's work would be quite rude. Oink's opinion on this matter makes the most sense, he was here when myself, Mp29, Purple, Sweet, etc etc built that last world, I doubt any of us want somebody editing our work. The server didn't fail so much as we had a lot of bumps and roadblocks, and eventually moved on to something else. The builds still exist and the idea is still there, I view the map myself whenever I want (I have it loaded up on TBG's minecraft server) I'd be up for building something new with a new group of people, but no interest in actual rp, just the work crew part. Other than that I've been busy with my own things in my own commune, wouldn't mind seeing a few old buds again though. |
