Imput on Necessary Windows Apps

I'm looking for a list of applications for Windows that I should totally get to spiff the entire experience up i.e. stardock or CCleaner. Any programs that you guys use on a semi-daily basis are great, but really any programs you guys think I need for Windows 8 work!

paint.NET for all your image editing needs, and maybe Speedfan. I'm curious as to how warm your Surface Pro gets when gaming :P
Another absolute must is winRAR. I just use the free trial version, so long as you always close the "This is not free software" popup after 40 days, it will never force you to remove it.

Yeah rainmeter is great. With the skin I use I couldnt get it to monitor CPU/GPU temps for some reason, but just having the other stuff right there for you is nice

All I'm doing is entering my username at the end of the url that it gives me at the beginning of the program. Is that the wrong thing? I'm very, very rusty at steam stuff atm
